I’m having issues with unexpected linebreaks being inserted into my posts -please see the linked image showing sending and receiving gmail accounts, the post, and the wysiwyg. The highlighted yellow is the linebreaks I do not want.
I’ve played around with nearly every combination of settings under Message.
Is this being caused by the character set? Currently this is set to utf-8 but changing to ISO-8859-1 doesn’t change things.
Any ideas?

Whenever I hit the manual “Process Email” button I get a 404 page.
It used to work but now it doesn’t and I can’t figure out what changed (I haven’t done anything on the blog – I just noticed lately that there are not new post even though I’ve been sending emails).
Deactivated all plugins, to no avail.
Please advise?

Hello,
Been using the plugin with no issues for quite a long time. Today I was testing a form after a user claimed it didn’t work — it does — but as part of that test I asked Postie to “Process Email” manually.
Normally this works fine, but now the page just reloads with no content. It doesn’t seem to actually process anything. I am not sure what is wrong, but it is the first time I have tried this since the last plugin update.
Edit – I did just realize there is a similar post about a 404 error, but I do not actually receive any errors at all. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Postie as was suggested. It didn’t fix my issue.
Any ideas?

I have updated Postie, and now I amhaving problems with special spanish chars.
I tried changing “Encoding for pages and feed” param to UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1 but the problem still.
I send email in plain text format. For example, if I send the word “Dólar”, Postie pluging published “Dólar”
I dont have any problem with older Postie version.
I dont know ho to solve this problem :/

Hello,
i have setup postie too many times before on different websites, working great.
on the last website i use postie to get specific emails that are from specific sender, these emails saved into specific folder called (facebook), i let postie do its job.
suddenly i found that postie deleted all my mails except the one from sender, the mails from the sender still exist in its folder, any other mail has been deleted, i can’t even find it in deleted folder.
how can i make postie only check the emails from specific sender and delete only these emails and leave the rest intact ?

I’ve used Postie for over a year now and it does everything I need it to do. My question is about the next step. After my people email to postie and their post is auto added to our web site, the next step is to use a plug in to auto post to social media like FaceBook. Postie allows me to add text, images or video to the pages and these are all posted to my FB page. The only issue is “Video”. In stead of showing the actual video on FB there is a text link to play the video. These are short videos that are hosted on the WP site. I realize this is not a Postie issue but Postie makes this whole process possible so I wanted to let people know how they could take the next step. Does anyone know of a plug-in that will auto post video that shows an image in FB? Postie makes this whole process so simple and possible.Thank you for a great plug in.

I’m using Postie v 1.9.4 and have updated to WordPress 4.8.2
I’ve used this plugin for over two years with no issues but suddenly it ceased to function three days ago. I haven’t added or activated any new plugins recently.
I’m getting the error: Warning: the Default Poster is not a valid WordPress login.
So three issues:
1. On the User tab the default poster is set to my user account but the error message claims it is not valid. My account is the main admin account.
2. The default poster dropdown list doesn’t display and of the other users (mostly editors)
3. Settings won’t save. I’ve entered all the settings for the email server but when I click on the Save button, all the settings disappear.
I’ve tried deactivating all other plugins but the error message persists.
It seems that for some reason the plugin is failing to find the list of registered users.
Suggestions?

Is it possible to Prevent Postie to POst when a Word “No” appears in subject or post content body.. Meaning we dont want to postie anything that has a the word “NO”

Hello, the Default Post Format setting doesn’t seem to be working. It always publishes posts as “standard”. I have set it to “image” in the settings and even tried from the email subject line (image//subject line) and still it doesn’t work.
I even tried setting the default post format at WP settings level, but it is always overridden by Postie to “standard”.
Any support to fix this would be much appreciated.

Good morning,
Your plugin has been working great for a few years now and we love it. As of Sept 19th Postie returns no info from the mail server. In the error log we get No date, from address, to address, title, body, etc. I am not sure if something changed with the plugin, I am running version v1.9.5, or did something happen with my mail host. Is there anything you recommend we try to get the login working again? Have you seen this before?
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

but suddenly, last week, stop to work.
I think the test and the debug, give to me a correct messages and working fine… but the plugin cant read and transform to post any email… but it seems that connect correctly with gmail…

We use Email2DB to process data, extract elements and send these in an email to the blog. Postie has worked perfectly since installation but has ceased posting this week. If we send the same email in from Outlook it works but when coming in from Email2DB it appears to be being rejected on the grounds that it is coming in from a unrecognised email address. But, the email address is displays, while not the same as from where it was sent (I don’t understand this part) is set up as an Administrator and also added Authorised Addresses list.
We have the exact same issue on another WordPress site that was set up the same and updated this week. It appears that they Authorised Addresses or the existence of more than one Administrator are not being recognised by postie?

Hello,
There’s a bug in the category lookup search.
The code infact search for a category in the default post type instead of the custom category type, and if it found a -cat1- in the default category, it set the ID of the default category post in the custom post.
I’m quite sure of this ’cause I have default post category and portfolio category that begins with the same word, the default post (post) category have ID = 3, and the portfolio (avada_portfolio) category have ID = 18 , when I send the email with -cat- ,using the debug button, I see it found the category of the default wordpress post “post” (cat1 of the posy ID = 3 instead of find the portfolio category ID = 18).I’ve also setted to use as default category my portofolio post type (so my subject to publish on portfolio is “-cat1- mysubject” and subject to publish on posts is “post//-cat1- mysubject”).
I’ve fixed using different slug but should be very welcome a real fix to this.

I run the Postie on a few sites and in recent versions running the cron job through WP CLI no longer works. With version 1.9.8 the cron job completes without processing any emails. No error is generated in the server logs.
As the imports are doing some processing on an attached file in the emails I run the cron jobs through WP CLI as to not affect visitors to the site (the job takes roughly 90-100 seconds to complete). I’ve set maximum execution time to 90 seconds in php.ini, so sometimes the job would be interrupted if it were to be started from the web (WP CLI has no such limit).
Using the “Process Email” button in the admin panel works.

Postie was working fine when we were last using it some months ago , maybe as long as a year. We stopped using posts on the website for other reasons but have now started again.
Now if Postie is set to manual retrieve emails it works fine. But as soon as I set it to any automated time e.g. 1 min, 5 min, 1 hour etc it brings in the email as tmptitle and no other info in the post.
here is the test for checking if the connection to the email host is working.
Would like to get this working correctly again on automated timed retrieving .
