Update not Updating

I get notified by system that there’s an update to ver 1.8.39 = when I update, all seems well nothing out of the ordinary happens.
Then soon as I go back to dashboard, I’ve another notification telling me that Postie has an update available, the new ver 1.9.39.
When I check plugin, old ver 1.8.38 is Still there, and update has not happened.

So update not happening when I update plugin through notification.
